The first coffee lounge offering this year is a Brazilian blend, a duet of 2 very different Brazilian styles.

Throughout the last month we were lucky to get our hands on some truly wonderful and exclusive coffees and we always try to keep a little back for experimenting with.

We love Brazilian coffee and it’s been a staple in our two of our house blends, Sunset Espresso and Escape.

Coffee production in Brazil is responsible for about a third of all coffee making. Brazil has held the position of number 1 coffee producer in the world for some 150 years!! These guys know how to make great quality, diverse coffees.

The crop first arrived in Brazil in the 18th century and the country had become the dominant producer by the 1840s. Production as a share of world production peaked in the 1920s, with the country supplying 80% of the world’s coffee, but has declined since the 1950s due to increased global production.

We have equal measures of a superb Daterra farm coffee; floral with slight citrus notes on the nose and then flavours of sweet mandarin, rich dark chocolate and caramel in the mouth. The Daterra farms are a little different, they focus on their connection with the world around them. This is what they say about their operations:

Relationship with the soil, the water, the wildlife, knowledge and people.

Daterra was born from the dream to reinvent coffee farming, with quality and processes of a new sustainable agriculture.

That is how we challenge ourselves and our lands to produce coffees that go beyond the norm.

The other half of this brilliant blend is an Oberon…

Oberon coffee could be described as the Queen of Brazilian coffees. Only the best and finest coffees from Brazil’s Cerrado region find their way into Oberon. The Cerrado region is located in the southwestern part of the Minas Gerais state. It is a region famous for its homogeneous climate, altitude and product quality characteristics.

These two powerhouse high quality coffees combine to make a wonderful full bodied coffee that leaves a big but smooth tasting experience. Floral notes of the Daterra combined with the fullness of the Oberon really does make a wonderful combination.
