El Mirador Finca is situated in the Tolima region, one of the most isolated coffee producing provinces in Colombia. Nestled deep within the Andes mountains.
The area has very limited transport links, requiring a 12-hour road trip from Ibague the province capital, along great stretches of treacherous dirt track. Tolima falls directly in the middle of the nation’s conflict zone, a largely forgotten region, left to the discretion of the inhabitants and the FARC (Colombia’s revolutionary armed forces) with few means for development. Coffee is one of the keys to social and economic advancement, with some of Columbia’s finest speciality micro-lot coffees coming from this central Andean zone. The area’s high altitudes (varying from 1600 to 2000 metres above sea level) and its terra enriched volcanic soils promote ideal growing conditions; while the district’s fresh mountain streams allow for natural irrigation.
El Mirador’s coffees are rich in flavour, and full bodied. Their excellent acidity and amazing aftertaste is representative of the attention to detail throughout the entire process. The coffees are fully washed and fermented for up to 36 hours, they are sun-dried. Once ripened the beans are hand sorted to ensure only the finest make it to our roaster, and your cup.
We absolutely love this coffee, and we know you will too!
