Monsoon Malabar is our darkest roast to date!
This beautiful single origin coffee has earthy, spiced, and smoky flavours, with a heavy body, and a distinctively long finish.
This coffee is one of India’s most sought after coffees. The beans are cultivated in Malabar, a mountainous region of southern India; home to in nutrient rich soils at high altitudes. The ‘monsooned’ process sees harvested coffee seeds exposed to the monsoon rain and winds that hit the Malabar coastal regions. This exposure can last for a period of up to four months, causing the beans to swell and lose their original acidity. This monsooning process coupled with the humid growing conditions giving these legendary beans their signature taste.
The beans are grown in the same region as exotic spices such as anise, cardamom, pepper and cinnamon; explaining the spiced tasting notes in this coffee’s flavour and aroma.
Our Monsoon Malabar produces the perfect amount of crema, making for an excellent espresso. The deep signature flavours of the bean also come through magnificently in milk-based drinks. Give it a go in a flat white or cappuccino.
It’s intensely rich flavours and aromas makes this Indian roast an exceptional coffee. We’re sure that once you try our Monsoon it will be a firm favourite!
