Rwandan Coffee
The Rwanda Arabica coffee beans are known for their superior quality and its tea-like, delicate and fresh citrus flavour profile. Situated at high altitudes ranging from 1800 to 2000 msl, the beans are cultivated on a 20-hectare plantation, carefully nurtured to ensure optimal taste. Distinguished by their affiliation with the Red Bourbon variety, the Rwanda coffee beans undergo a meticulous washed process. Immersed in spring water, they are thoroughly cleansed, sun-dried, and handpicked to a high standard. This rigorous selection process ensures that only the finest cherries make their way into your cup, guaranteeing a consistently superior and satisfying coffee experience.
The Family and Impact
Rwamatamu coffee is a family-owned business founded by Mukantwaza Laetitia and Rutaganda Gaston in 2015 as they looked for a means to support their family. With goals to contribute to the fight against poverty by creating local job opportunities and combat poverty through sustainable coffee harvesting. They value their partnerships with affiliate local co-operatives and farmers, sourcing cherries to create coffee that truly represents the essence of Rwanda. They also invest in the growth of employees, 80% of whom are women. Rwamatamu has its very own women produced lots, as they quote women as ‘the backbone of our society’.
We are thrilled to have Rwanda as our coffee of the month to give customers the opportunity to experience the exceptional quality of these beans, and contribute to the growth and empowerment of farmer communities.
